About Us
Arrebato Ensemble, led by flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti, are a diverse group of talented musicians who have worked together to develop original music with contemporary flamenco as the compositional and rhythmic driving force. This collaboration has created a passionately moving style of music with an intensely international flavour and appeal to many audiences from the flamenco aficionado to jazz and world music fans and even lovers of fine chamber music.
Formed from 2005 and following the release of their debut CD in 2007 to significant critical acclaim, biographical highlights have included: 2008 - winner of Best World Music Artist from MusicOz Awards,the only world music group invited to perform at the International Australian Festival of Chamber Music, live concert broadcast by ABC Music Deli Program, and peformances at the Bellingen Global Carnival; 2009 - the Apollo Bay Music Festival, selection by famed world music star Rita for guest performance in the Concert Hall of Sydney Opera House, interviews and live performance on The Music Show ABC Radio National, the only world music group to be invited to perform in the prestigious Utzon Concert Series at Sydney Opera House, selling out each of its shows; 2010 - concerts at the WOMADELAIDE Festival, sharing the program with such world music atrists as Ravi Shankar from India and Ojos de Brujo from Spain.
